Does anyone know whether or not putting old abandoned games up on your site is allowed or not? What about books, or specific chapters of a book for reference?
legally, nah. realistically, are they gonna find you ? almost absolutely not LOL although if it's indie then maybe think about whether u wanna host or just redirect people to support the creator :-}

I think that it depends on the context. I know that I host flash games on my site.
I'm not sure about games made by other people. But when it comes to printed material like manga, I usually upload single pages or panels.
