i would say try working on a scaled up canvas, try seeing how things look when you zoom out/exporting to the regular 88x31 size

I've got a general pixel art tutorial for my own process on my site! Also if you have ipad/iphone, another option alongside aseprite I'd recc is Pixquare! I've used Aseprite for years but more recently moved to the latter since I like using my ipad for most art more, and the interfaces are very interchangable :>
