I don't join them because most of them require adding JavaScript to your page and I am for no earthly good reason an HTML/CSS purist.

Yes that was my thought too but I ran out of comments. why are we policing something like that?? I hope people understand that everyone makes websites for different reasons. not everyone is out there joining every club that applies to them - absence of membership means nothing. you can't draw conclusions about that without understanding each individual webmaker

or if it's a normal hour where you are you can be in the club but you have to call it something else.

actually I like the idea of giving a club different names like that but we're all awake and doing the same stuff at the same time.

one is to be a positive presence in the lives of those around you, to brighten their existence and remind individuals constantly that they are worthy

two is to continue educating yourself, it never ends. things are always changing and there's always a chance to gain new perspectives and understand those around you and globally

Ooh, you are reading Track Changes! I did not think I would find anyone else nerdy enough to read that book. I am interested to see what you think of it.

@emilynhoward I am not that far into it but so far I totally love it. it's very engaging for such a nerdy topic 🤓

because what I'm not going to do is change how I express myself so that other humans don't think I'm AI. what I'm not going to do is change my voice just because AI exists.

don't worry! those accusers are just dumbasses that are unemployed as hell that can go fuck themselves, block em if you get em. and i think your writing style is unique as hell, so I agree with ya!
Yeah, I definitely use the internet as a numbing tool so that I can avoid the reality of being me. Lol. Though, I think I like being alone a lot more than most people. I always have something to work on that is not screen related - does that still count as solitude? My guess is that people have always sought ways to avoid true solitude, internet or not. But also, what IS true solitude?
You bring up a good point I didn't address - the difference between cognitive and physical solitude. physically being away from others vs cognitively distancing from other thoughts. to be in true cognitive solitude, you're not reading (screen or paper) or consuming other ideas. I think what I'm talking about in this post is probably leaning more to physical solitude. but now you've got me thinking!
I actually wish it were longer. You just scratched the surface of the depths this conversation can reach.
ohhhhh i wanna chew on this one w my thoughts if not words also......will see
@stoneroad my brain has been percolating more thoughts, I'll definitely do a follow up soon!
