This is a neat little website blog sort of thing! I definitely agree with you on your article of switching to Linux. I use Debian regularly, I switched from Windows a while ago, and I've never truly contemplated installing Windows for long term every day usage. Updates and installing new software are painless processes with apt, my setup only uses 400 mb of RAM on idle, my theming looks zany, etc. Linux is great!

Thanks! The site's simple design comes from my laziness ;). Yes, Debian to me seems to sit in an excellent middle-ground between something totally manual (Slackware or Arch I suppose) and something almost entirely automated (Windows/*buntu/etc). It sure was fun building the system from the ground up like Slackware but with easier tools.

What do you think, should I switch back to Neocities full-time? I have to admit that a dedicated domain (and a dedicated server) for a website that only amounts to my own writing, I could easily scale it all down and have a much easier time managing my website. Learning Apache sure was fun, though.

I have limited experience. I haven't done any other website except the one here on neocities. But I do like the control of working with HTML and CSS.

I've written a new entry. Writing little "blog" posts like this is much easier than the way I had it before. I could go on for pages... but I wonder if anyone will read them! Hah.

Interesting take w/Pale Moon! I read somewhere in an article once that if security is your concern and you're running some linux os and palemoon, you're probably the only person doing that within a pretty large radius (unless you live in a major city) and are effectively outing yourself in a shadow profile through the obscurity of the combination. PM worked fine when I used it, but I still don't know what's best

That is an interesting point. I wouldn’t be surprised if I were the only person within 1/2 a mile using Debian and PM, ha. PM is an interesting thing. I like it. But a thing I don’t like: its forum. It came off a bit too toxic/elitist to me. Tried to ask a few questions and tried to discuss politel, but wasn’t met with nearly the same attitudes from most. Unfortunate, no?

Por eso Neocities sólo sirve como createspace, y no como una red social. De hecho, nadie de afuera toma en serio a los sitios de Neocities. Ahora tu sitio se ha convertido en informes de noticias semanales , es decir, en una perdida tiempo, y por eso he venido a ti como Crates de Tebas a decirte estas ultimas palabras. Adiós. Creo que Stallman usa el navegador de Emacs, y hay un video donde aclara que prefiere ver un DVD con alguien a ver Netflix, lol.

Y bueno, tienes razón en que he disminuído la calidad de mi basura con el tiempo (si es que alguna vez tuvo algo de calidad). Pero la verdad es que me he estado aburriendo del blog. Estoy pensando en quitarlo y hacerlo un archivo muy pronto, pero ahora mismo estoy trabajando en un proyecto personal. Remodelaré el sitio después.

Con lo de "Neocities no funciona como red social" no sabría que decir, creo que he visto que se ha promocionado a sí mismo como "una red social". Además hay muchos sitios con blogs y cosas personales. Añade a eso que tiene "feeds" como este.

Es lo que dije sobre stallman. https://stallman.org/stallman-computing.html Neocities no es una red social como Twitter, pero intenta serlo usando feeds, followers, likes, visitas... Un simple correo y basta de adulación. Sabía que tarde o temprano te aburrirías. Lo sé porque sencillamente no aspiras a lo grande. Quiero tu sitio sea personal, que hable sobre arte, sobre política, sobre ciencias...

...sobre tecnología, sobre filosofía, sobre lo que haces fuera de internet, que saques fotos, que recomiendes libros y des consejos. No una cosa. Quiero que hables de todo. Pero no quiero que le des prioridad a la cantidad. Quiero que tu sitio sea una obra de arte y le pongas esfuerzos, si eso requiere que tardes tiempo en publicar. No importa. Dame algo sustancial.

Y si deseas una forma de comunicarte con tus lectores, utiliza el correo como único contacto. No Tox, IRC, XMPP, Feeds o algún otro servicio de moda. Un simple correo, aunque antiguo y algo defectuoso, estará ahí dentro de tres, cuatro, o cincos años.

El sitio nunca aspiró a ser "grande" jaja. Lo mantengo por bueno, como he mencionado, para aprender cosas técnicas, hablar sobre tecnologías libres y decir lo que pienso de cuando en cuando. Yo personalmente mencioné que no me gusta lo que normalmente se hace en redes sociales, como lo que mencionas (cosas que hago fuera de mi vida en internet).

Tal vez después escriba algo con más sustancia. Y tal vez tienes cierto disgusto por la mensajería instantánea, pero la verdad es que por ahí he contactado con algunas personas y ha sido bastante agradable hablar con ellas por esos medios. Gracias por tu tiempo y tu retroalimentación de cualquier forma. La tendré en cuenta :)
