Hang on, I'm having an epiphany. I didn't break those links. I just took such a long break from neocities that they *changed how directories work*. Wack. It looks like files ending with .html are handled like a pseudodirectory now.

The relevant issue being that "[link].neocities.org/folder" doesnt work anymore; it causes some kind of endless redirect loop. It has to terminate with a slash like so: "[link].neocities.org/folder/" Not good for link rot!

LOL I understand now. My earlier edge case correction (making some .html pages redirect to a directory without a slash) just HAPPENED to be the opposite of HIS choice for edge case correction (redirecting from a "directory" that didn't end with a slash to the .html page) and ended up in an endless loop.

I honestly found it quite humorous, since the person did not understand why I disliked Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (you may not know either). Essentially it boils down to one joke getting repeated over and over 15 times per episode, then a sex scene at the end.

your post resonates with me - i once started waking up at 3AM for weeks to spend hours working undisturbed, to the detriment of everything else, on a project that ended up being way too ambitious for me and was never even shared... this is a torment mirrored across the journey of many artists: "the big one", the "thing you're supposed to make" that screams in the back of your head when you aren't working on it

it is a hard lesson to learn that there isn't really anything you're "supposed to make," there are only 'things you make', and sometimes they turn out really great and connect with people. and if a project doesn't work out, the worlds and characters still never really leave you - if/when you feel like it, you can always return to iterate on them! (there were so many corru iterations...)
