When gathering sources for my final's topic, I came across Dolores Huerta. She was mentioned only once in the article I was reading, but with the information surrounding her, I felt very compelled to learn about her role and contributions to the United Farm Workers Movement. Even more was I interested, when I learned that she championed education equity, community commitment, LGBTQ+ rights, and feminism.
I couldn’t really delve deep into specific interviews and events since I was kinda on the clock for my paper. However, I had a huge re-energizer in learning the amount of change made from the assembly of alienated communities and changes of perspective that a chicana had a hand in fostering.
So I am very angry, if you haven’t heard the allegations on Cesar Chavez, read the following article: https://medium.com/@dolores_huerta/march-18-2026-e74c20430555 (there is no paywall and it’s from her). I can only hope for her peace and that all the love coming from different places from the globe reaches her, she really deserves it.
I strongly encourage anyone to learn about her and her hand in the betterment of humankind; here's an article to jumpstart that educational journey: https://www.womenshistory.org/education-resources/biographies/dolores-huerta. and from her words, "Cesar’s actions do not diminish the permanent improvements achieved for farmworkers with the help of thousands of people."
