reading this book is kind of like woah.. truth nuke...

+ except for the part where he was like the proletariat doesn't exist anymore before giving arguments that fully prove the proletariat does in fact still exist. people keep trying to find ways to make marx irrelevant. it's never going to happen. + language adapts that is kind of what it is known for. your shiny new term is doing nothing that the old term didn't already do

+ beyond that it's really good you guys should check it out. or just read my quote selection because it's basically half of what i've read so far anyway lol

skimmed the quotes since i was interested, do they talk about freedom as societal mobility at all? the conversation seems kind of moot to me if we don't think about racialization and differential downward pressures that restrict people's lives under capitalism 🤔im actually also align with the proletariat "doesn't exist" (at least in a way that can come together to revolution) but this seems like diff reasoning haha

angelogistics, he doesn't talk about race at ALL! which is the biggest proverbial nail in the coffin for me. in my notes i talk about how he's obviously writing out of a specific class context and it's apparent in how he expresses his ideas. he only approaches the idea of freedom in this more general "everyone falls in this umbrella" way, but maybe that's me being unflattering

+ i appreciate his ideas but only inasmuch as they contribute to other literature. on its own i think the book is very insular in scope and approach. i didn't agree with how he framed the proletariat conversation, but i'm super curious to hear your justification if you want to share! it could be here or by email :P
