question of opinion: for the JFK shrine, should i continue to have "Return..." in the lower left corner to return to the bedroom, or should i remove it and just have the shrine be opened in a new tab when you click on the frame in the bedroom? hope this makes sense

I'd say leave it! It feels like a point and click adventure game that way
please keep it where it is, i saw this post on the activity page and i had to go looking for it, i tore up the place
I actually kind of love the idea of it opening in a new tab, like stepping into a totally different room
