That Linux story was a good read. I went through a similar process myself where I switched from slackware to Ubuntu.

Traitor! /s In seriousness I think the one thing holding me back from vanilla Ubuntu is the default UI scheming. It almost reminds me of the UI on those Xiaomi/etc phones
