i have used and seen so many templates while building my own site that whenever im looking at new websites i can tell WHICH TEMPLATE THEY PROBABLY USED am i crazy

Pattern recognition is absolutely a thing. I'm fortunate that I didn't touch templates at all so I don't have a basis for even beginning pattern recognition
I can proudly say that the first few weeks of existence of my website was solely fighting with grid bc I didn't undersand almost anything about css lol. I despise the idea of using any template for myself, but I don't mind them on others because it helps them on their way :)

yeah pattern recognition is definitely a thing! and i kind of like recognizing them because it means they're well made and well used!!!! and it's also really interesting to see how different people change them to their taste and preferences :-) plus i think using templates is actually a really good way of learning css faster while tinkering everything here and there
