Regarding the text on your BIOLAB page, I read a section of The Children's Encyclopedia by Arthur Mee today on the topic of Saul of Tarsus that echos this. It talks of the wickedness and depravity of the people, how they had "ceased to believe in their gods... far from being good... of honourable and noble lives, [they] were a quarrelsome, stupid, narrowminded, and a conceited set of coxcombs.. nothing but a circus."
