That's a really good read and a balanced take on the whole yesterweb situation. May it be a cautionary tale for the next group that attempts to drive a Marxist revolution with a website hobbyist group.

Imo the whole document was a massive cope. You hit the nail on the head though, the top staff grew completely out of touch because they huffed their own farts a bit too much and didn't bother telling everyone else that they're not a mere nostalgia community anymore

the forum also gave me an insight on how badly the staff has been managing the ring, should be featured in a "how not to run a webring" guide, if there is one

Now that it's over any speculation is just gossip. But I am intrigued by how they were infiltrated by literal Communists and how that shaped how the main team interacted with the community. I'm not making any value judgements, but it's an interesting story.

i'm reading the forum thread now and it seems like the majority of it was driven by just one high-up staff member, who is also most likely the primary author of the document
