Yeah, it's really nice that they don't strip you of everything when you cancel. Sites and files will stay until you manually remove them which is pretty nice, you just can't add any new ones.
Once you have the domain, you technically own the site instead of Neocities (With their sub-domain I talking about.) So even if Neocities shut down, the site may still be open, though you can't edit it unless you download the whole site with new HTML editor.
