The Vaporeon collection looks so cute!! The build-a-bear looks like a great gift!

I realize the picture alone doesn't give a sense of scale, but the B-A-B plush is pretty big!

The total scope so far seems really ambitious, I respect it. Actually really, really like the currently minimal content-first look you have going right now, hope you keep it even as the site progresses.

When looking at a "gallery" type page with thumbnails that take you to a full view when clicked, do you use the back button on your browser to go back or would you want a "BACK" button on the page itself?
sakana 3 months ago

I always use browser back so I didn't design my galleries here and on Keltokel with back buttons. I recently learned this really, really annoys some people and I'm wondering if I should edit all 70 of those pages to have one.

I think it would help having a back button. Another option would be to switch to lightbox

Hey! Let me know if you received my submission, I mailed you about five days ago. If not, I'll try resending from a different address.

Ah, nevermind, I just saw your other exchanges where you explained firemail isn't being reliable and provided your gmail. I will re-send there.

I have indeed, i am sorry for the delay. Been caught up in a lot lately. Will read through and eMail you my thoughts. The illustrations look fantastic though! Thank you so much for your submission!

While i read through, however, please think of a song that you think best represents the story. It could be any song of your choosing, so long as it is on Spotify, which i hope is broad enough. (I have a devious little plan for these)

Accidentally deleted the reply, but message received. Let me know when they reply

Sometimes observing the Neocities feed leads to a feeling of "jesus, the kids are annoying" but I quickly realized that's a valuable thing. Truly intergenerational spaces on the web are really rare in present day.

When I was 14 (circa 2003) and a regular of some forums and chatrooms, they had a common feature: the same channels were occupied by both grown adults and inexperienced children who spoke to each other. You got the sense there was a divide by age - all the kids/teens were friends with each other and all the adults stuck to themselves, but I learned a lot being in that environment and it helped me mature.

There's movies, bands, books etc I never would've known otherwise. And there were times I needed someone older to tell me I was being silly and needed to chill out about something. And I needed to know the 75 year old lady who lived in a retirement village and spent all day drawing cats on MS paint to understand you can do whatever you want and life only ends when you're dead.

older people on the internet are the biggest reason I'm still on the internet now. If i hadn't been exposed to adults doing fun, cute, childish things i probably would've given up all my hobbies at the end of highschool to try and be "more mature" like everyone else did

^ Great point. Only counter to the feeling of "oh man these things near and dear to my heart are too childish, am I supposed to discard them and move on?" is to see adults participating in those hobbies, having fun and doing fine.

Having childish hobby is better rather than not having any, I think one of the healthiest thing to have

thanks for making me look back at the past, i just realized how valuable the adults who i conversed with in club penguin rewritten and universe really are!

Look at personal page feed, notice a good chunk of people I follow are moving to nekoweb. I was a little skeptical at first and assumed bandwagoning (you know, when people migrate because of site culture or something like that) but the supporter tier there costs half what it does here and gives you more!

I doubt I'll jump ship but I've considered making a mirror at least to see what it's like.

Yeah, I think that's understandable. Something that's been bothering me since I started paying for Neo is the complete absence of the site's creators and no direct support. That is a big reason for me to think about it.

I don't think anything will happen to Neocities (hopefully) since it's been online for a decade, but I also don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

I'd been meaning to look for a bit of a cheaper host (gotta pay rent now :') ), and it looks like they allow nsfw also so thanks for posting about this!

I'm in no rush as I had been jumping from host to host for a few years before settling on Neocities. Though it's nice to know there are still options out there.

I might set up a mirror as well. As much as I like Neocities, there is next to no development which doesn't really make the hosting worthwhile.

I stopped paying for the Neocities supporter tier awhile ago.

I took a look at that too a while back - it's made by people from here! I avoided a mirror in the end because when I mentioned it somone dm'd me the drama between the devs and it put me off. Leprd is my personal fave free host but they're not taking on newcomers unfortunately.
