little poll in my sidebar about the next indie web contest (which is coming SOON!) :>
hey! i'm not entirely sure what you mean but feel free to send me an email to petracoding at outlook dot com with any details ! :]
@gorciu do you mean reactions instead of comments or reactions to the comments themselves?

perhaps similar to a guestbook, with mandatory name and optional site link / email! and perhaps some basic guarding features against spam?

ooh, i missed the first one but ill be sure to join this. as for the too many people thing you mentioned last time, the only thing ive managed to come up with is splitting contestants into categories? though idk any details past that, sorry!

@tofutush yes, categories would be awesome, to go through 60+ websites and give everyone honest points required making spreadsheets to not get lost, categories could help organize it a bit ;)
@lankarta-project this time around, since winners are calculated using average points again, i will not make it a requirement to rate every single website because it would simply be impossible. instead, a random 10-20 or so will be chosen and the rest is optional!

Do it like how itch.io does gamejams! have ppl vote n then have u rate like top 100 or somethin >:O

I like seasoups idea and if you want to keep the personal touch of your ratings, maybe you could do a mixture of both. everyone can vote so you have a crowd favorite, and then you pick your top 10 and rate those only? something like a hybrid approach
@fraberry there's this page ! https://petrapixel.neocities.org/contest but the voting form does not exist anymore
moved webrings to their own page bc the loading time of my homepage was awful
btw you guys should totally follow my sister, she's learning to code rn! https://neocities.org/site/tanjas-treehouse
I feel like webrings is one of the things that makes pages slow. I have my webrings page seperate for like ages and I still measure it time to time because I also put a page load time info on that page, and I usually get from 10 seconds to reaching 3 minutes for 27 webrings (15 widget-based, 12 link-only), and I still getting Lighthouse results on my webring page that it has one of the worst performances on my site.
@jbcarreon123 yeah, scripts like onionring are pretty much the worst thing you can do for perfomance, it irks me so much that so many webrings still use it even though there are several much better options available!!
Wondering about it lately so I just made a post about it: https://jbc.lol/posts/does-webrings-slow-down-sites/
