idk, but i'd be very hesitant to take care of a young bird, because once you start taking care of it, its mother wont recognise it as her own.. :// i was told that a lot about different wild animals, including birds (i tried saving a little bird one time when i was 12 😭). maybe try helping but not directly? consult a vet? idk... good luck!!! :)

Alright! but then any ideas on how to support it non-directly. It hasn't eaten/drink all day and it keeps chirping :(, mother still hasn't come home and looks like she might've been eaten by neighborhood cats

I took care of a baby hummingbird, uhm, either way I dont have much knowlegde so u should consult a vet but, when they are newborns they tend to eat the puking of their moms which tends to content little bugs and that flower liquid adult hummingbirds drink. and remember that humming birds arent designed to stay still for too long so their body temperature can go really cold specially during nightime which is bad

also, dont forget that they tend to grow up really fast so its just about three weeks for that baby to start flying. And one last thing, sometimes they dont come back because their child could have some disease, mine had heart and skin problems whom weren´t noticeable until a doctor checked him up. But that is NOT an excuse to take him home because its mother could just be a little late.

Thank you guys, she still hasn't returned and we're just going to call a vet and see what happens. I never knew that mother hummingbirds also ate little bugs, good to know but I think we got it under cover with the vet coming! thanks again!
