Thanks so much for checking it out and commenting. I've been wanting to get back to filling in the remaining sections and this is giving me the encouragement to get back to it.

hi, could you (regarding your music shrine) advise me on how you were able to get content to load in two divs after clicking one button/link? i'm tryna do something similar on my music page - thank you <3

hi! it doesnt really load content into two divs, it loads a whole different div each time you click a button that has the exact same structure as the other ones. so it looks like only the content has changed but it's just swapping one div for another. idk if that was ur question or if u wanted to know how i made something appear when clicking a button lol (the answer is javascript))

thank you - i think i've got an idea of how the javascript should work! so, what i was talking about was the album buttons that are on the top bar, which when clicked, fill in a div with an album cover + genres, and then fill in the other div with your notes on the album. i was not super clear before my bad LOL!! :3

ohh so then i replied ur question in my first reply!! i am making one big div dissappear when u click a button (the one containing the two divs u mention) and another one w the same structure appears in its place.

new blog entry reading my favorite band's book and realizing how much streaming services have taken from me... much to think about

i think social media has forced most forms of art into a position in which expression is treated as disposable content and it's so tragic. all music streaming services i've tried have got the same disrespect for artists, for example: Nina Simone's debut album 'Little Girl Blue', which is such a tender beautiful and influential piece, according to spotify, was released in 2013, ten years after her passing.

i feel like when i was downloading albums to put on my mp4 as kid or even when i used to buy knock-off cds the whole experience was more endearing and two-sided. the worst part in my opinion is that they could potentially do something different. mubi for example shows that it cares for the movies it holds on its service, spotify simply doesn't care.

yess it really is crazy how an app that is about MUSIC cannot get the release dates right... i don't want to sound like everything is bad and evil about being able to stream literally every song in existence, because it allowed me to find music i wouldn't have found otherwise, but i do think its a bit sad how much it erased intention and context.

you don't look for music, it is catered to you. i never really thought about the mp4 example but you're so right lol especially because usually you'd download some song your sibling told you about, or some song you found on youtube that u loved... algorithms and streaming services are useful, but i don't want to lose the other parts that make music wonderful

right !! my brother used to get music recs by checking similar artists on wikipedia, then go to a forum to download the cd rip, by that you got context on the artist and a little community interaction; streaming is really good for some things and it's easier to put music out there but it misses that interaction and community building, also algorithms cannot predict new random hyperfixations lol, it takes extra effort

i think what pisses me off most about spotify-style listening is the lack of curation. listening to an album all the way thru is awesome, the band/singer put the songs that way for a reason! and human made playlists of spotify are alright but all the algo stuff feels so random and totally disconnected
