I understand how the creator of the format was "It's really effiecient!" but nothing in the world supports it properly ever despite it coming from Google. So... I kinda loathe it.
i have mixed feelings about webp. the concept of a compressed image that still supports transparency and animation is cool. but the problem is: you can't use it as a wallpaper, can't use it in some software etc etc. also it's in spite of being owned by google
kinda have the same opinion as both comments above, the lack of support for this format is a bit annoying (even though the programs i use supports webp) but i kinda despise the jfif format more lol
conceptually good but nothing supports it and i have to use an extension to convert it into a normal png or gif because of afformentioned nothing supporting it. good idea but useless in practice
I've been a wiki editor and had to convert hundreds of WEBP images to PNGs to be able to edit them...the lack of support is a pain so I kind of hate them for that.
i think blaming the format itself on low support for it is strange. it Does make it inconvenient to use but its small filesize is what allows me to have a gallery on my site, while being unable to pay the supporter fee for larger storage

i really wouldn't care about having to use if it didn't take forever for it to have any support
i like webp. unironically.
