can anyone explain the bandwidth limit?

basically it's a limit on how much data the website sends and receives. Kind of like mobile data cap. So if 100 people view your webpage which (combined with images and styles) weigh idk like 2MB, the bandwith will be 200MB.

what happens if you hit the limit?

Depends on the hosting service. I believe on neocities they just take your website down, but they don't mind if it goes temporarily over the limit

Instead of taking the website down, they could also return error 509 (Bandwidth exceeded), (just like 404 is returned for missing files)

that doesn't mean. like. they ban you. right

i think they ban you if you CONSTANTLY use too much bandwith. But knowing neocities it could be the reason of the supposedly random bans happening all throughout neocities, also I couldn't find a way to check the usage myself, which is odd
