I haven't had to do any configuration beyond getting mutt configured with the correct addresses and folder names.

If you explicitly need good encryption, I imagine writing a shell script to run every time you want to compose mail would be worthwhile. I've heard some poor things about protonmail in specific. This video comes to mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeXaYR4ed9c

You're specifically why I use disroot. I noticed it on your site and checked it out, and liked it! Next, I didn't watch the video yet, but I'm aware of some negative things already, which is why I wanted to switch to begin with.

Lastly, you really are a shell scripting wizard, haha. Automation doesn't come to my mind with tasks, since as a person I establish a lot of action patterns, so I can do the same thing over and over quickly. Also, encrypting and decrypting emails manually has a nice feel. I'll look into the script, and I'll see the video as well, in case I need a more negative opinion than the one I already hold.

Thinking to automate something can usually only follow feeling comfortable doing the automation. If you do get more comfortable with shell script in regular use, your thinking may change to suit your comfort.

Definitely learning shell scripting, then. Thanks. I forgot to mention earlier that when I manually do tasks, I strip them down to the fewest steps possible and exploit whatever shortcuts I could get, but even such arbitrary tasks can be simplified further with the use of scripts and programs, so you're right.
