your page is sick!
Thanks. I appreciate it.
i'm really into your ideogramma icon collection. it's so nice
geouniversal: I'm flattered. Each icon took a while. Some of the visual metaphors are my own creations, some are quite standard, and some are even based off of program icons (like tools/commands you would find in inkscape, blender, or a bitmap image manipulation app).
I also studied the book "Dictionary of Symbols" by Carl G Liungman quite extensively, as it has many interesting visual metaphors which are not seen or used in modern times or in unicode at all.
I don't think I've seen a bandaid in the same set as a snap to midpoint icon. so much diversity but still feels like every piece belongs
Opera 8, if I'm not incorrect. It's the newest thing I'm aware of that can (somehow) run in Win 95. Tried to get KernelEx running in 95 just to get a more modern browser going but it unfortunately only seems to work in Windows 98 and 2000 (The 2000 version maintained by a different developer).
I've heard some conflicting information about this, but supposedly 9.27 and/or 10.10 was the final release for 95. AFAIK KernelEx on 98SE lets you get up to 12.02 (or the beta 12.50 build 1497, if you can find it), but 11.64 seems more stable on my machine.
Fortunately, I'm not interested in (Presto) Opera browsers past version 9.5, as this is [approximately] the version used by the Nintendo Wii "Internet Channel" browser. I enjoy poking around inside of more primitive JS/ES runtimes to get a feel for how the language has evolved.
BTW, a guide on how to set up a local TLS termination proxy outside of the VM would be really handy for trying to browse the modern web as it is on such an old piece of software. Not for my sake, but I'm betting somebody would find the information useful.
On the topic of Opera I can attempt to get a newer version but I saw Opera 8 almost universally recommended for 95 so I went with it. A few sites had "hacked" versions of newer browsers that supposedly work but they just annihilated my entire install via corruption so I dropped them very fast. On TLS termination proxy I will be sure to read into it and see how to apply it in the future, right now I want to get 98 out
I don't see a version of Opera on this disk image, funny enough. Oh well. I'll find a binary. Testing the ancient Internet Explorer version is pretty cute: https://i.imgsafe.org/a4/a453ad9383.png
Wait, so the ISO doesn't have an exe for installing Opera? I'll check when I get home.
