congrats on graduating and getting older and getting closer to death! The best part of being out of school is that you don't have to spend your free time doing school.

i did not know personality hire is a thing. is that like an insult or a compliment?

I think what your employers were trying to say is that you are not a clown, you are the whole circus ;)

ps: I did not know personality hire was a thing until now too... but think that perhaps it's them that are living off your kindness?

Ohhh, I see... that’s very kind of you to say, Pira! But I am not used to you not being mean to me in a comment. HAHAHAHA

I think if previous employers liked your personality but thought you lacked technical skills, they probably wouldn't have hired you. I reckon it just means your personality is what stood out to them most :)

from what ive seen, personality IS what gets people hired the most. or how you present urself, how you carry yourself, how you talk to others!! I lack all of that, and only have 10 years of retail, food, office work, and other shit of experience under my belt that gets me hired at this point. but personality always seals the deal. being a fun personality isnt a weakness, its a strength!!

I've only heard the words personality hire in the context of self-deprecating jokes, so insult and compliment? ^_^ depends on the context I guess.

IM GLAD U LIKE MY SITE!! Also the meat shrine is not mine, that would be Lupinus'!! It's a featured shrine on my page hehe, I suppose I should mark them better...
I feel the same way about NeoCities, also being dumb enough to use my real name lol. I'm glad you've had positive experiences here!
“I’m a quiet lurker” wow that’s news to me
i feel very similarly! neocities fills a void tumblr used to occupy, being a space to express innermost thoughts and connect with likeminded strangers. but also i teach primary school so i have to be mindful to not put anything on my site i wouldn't want my students to stumble across xD
yo teacher in the house thanks for all your hard work supporting our future maza
i, too, tend to tone down or write less about my personal and deep vulnerabilities thanks to an audience i've attracted over the two years i've been here. sucks but kinda doesn't suck bc no one needs to know half the shit i write LMAO.
@ barndoors xD i do my best
I stand by the statement that the difficulty curve to build a site on Neocities is what leads to such high-quality people on here. I pretty much pour almost all of the social energy I have that would normally be wasted on a giant social media app and never regret it because everyone else is also excited to be here. Being on Neocities is a great and fulfilling time in an otherwise terrifying world right now
I left social media for the same reason. Most people on there are both ignorant AND arrogant. Not a good combo.
It's a weird feeling to read about someone liking their name so much lol. I'm the complete opposite. I've come up with a dozen pennames jsut so I wouldn't have to use my real name because I dislike it so much. I was actually just getting ready to write a blog post on it lol.
Hi- you have a very nice article! I have to heavily disagree, however. While there have been plenty of pretty cool A-Ok people, NeoCities for the most part is a quiet and lonely place overall unless you have a popular website. Also, don't sell yourself short- You have 166 followers and tons of likes and comments on the posts you make here! You already blew up lol
Hello, vagabond! I believe u can be surrounded by sooo many people and still feel lonely. As I mentioned, I spent the first three years immersed in my little website with zero audience. And I know being alone and quiet doesn’t necessarily mean being lonely if u enjoy your own company :> Thank you for the kind words! I understand if u disagree with me as i can be wrong & silly or I might've misunderstood what u mean.
