hi all! when do you think it's appropriate or convenient to use target=_blank on links? I currently have it for links that are not on my own site, but alsof or some within my site.. and not sure if it's annoying for users
I would say always for external links. For internal links, almost never unless there's a good reason—like something that is helpful to have open as a reference to the current page, or a portion of the site that is noticeably distinct.
Ahh okay yeah that makes sense, basically I did use it for my book reviews, because i feel like it would be nice to have the book cover and info resting on the page instead of having to scroll back to it, if that makes sense
I get that. You expect visitors to open a link from a long list, read the review, then go back to the list to pick another book. Trying to find your place in a list over and over is annoying. Makes sense!
