I've been messing around with debian 13 for a while now while it was in testing, and am very excited to have it on my 2015 macbook pro now!! Debian is my fav OS, I just love its stability, and knowing that I can always rely on it working
gnome 48 has a ton of performance improvements over the I believe gnome 41 which was running on debian 12, and I believe gnome 46 on the ubuntu version it used to have. In either event, the performance of gnome is substantially better on the macbook, which I am super excited about!
I still would only recommend debian to people who just need a system that works no matter what. If you have new hardware or need of the latest and greatest software, you're better off on Arch if you are willing to put a little time into your system, or ubuntu and/or fedora if you want something that just works
I've been writing what I consider some of my best work. I won't be putting it here because I think it might actually be publishable. I am so proud of it, and if it does get published, I will share it all with y'all!! If not, I'll post it like my other unpublishable writing

that being said, debian is the GOAT
