To be fair I like the idea of decentralization which you might know why, which is why I started trying out Matrix, though I have heard the situation on the fediverse culturally is a bit different from what I have seen

I know Bluesky is decentralized though, but if atproto is under this leadership it leaves me worried, but maybe i should try fediverse soon, but you could give your experience so far

the fedi is culturally different, but so far i'd say i've had a good time. i'd say it's very much more small. like on atproto, the closest thing to an instance usually tries to index the entire damn network, so you can see everyone. it seems that's not much of a thing on the fediverse.

like i'm on merping.synth.download. it's a small instance, and while i *can* follow anyone on the fediverse, the instance isn't aware of everyone, and other instances by default don't know i exist. so people can only really find me via reposts, and the trending page is sometimes just a single post of a guy's dog. i thought it would be limiting, but it's kinda more cozy to me i feel ...

I see, i personally prefer smaller communities anyways since i tend to find the content i'd find interesting and big ones are just overstimulating and shallow imo, though none of my friends I have on discord and stuff use it unfortunately, but i could give it a shot one day

The video doesnt play but this redesign looks cozy so far. Definitely more portfolio-feeling than a personal site for sure, though some non-standard UI can make it personal again. I like personal sites more personally since we're on Neocities and not LinkedIn trying to get hired, but that's just one opinion

marquee not working in a major browser is almost always a bug. like, despite being deprecated, it still remains in the HTML5 standard. i don't foresee it being out-right removed anytime soon. it's against the spirit of the web to break websites.

if they ever just completely stop supporting marquee i say we riot
