i just realized its so weird for neocities to have a posting feature. i feel like it entirely goes against their mission

It's unusual but I dig it. I feel it encourages webmasters to interact more between each other. Most normal visitors wont even see these interactions I think.

sorry if I'm late responding, but I always recommend this post to people looking for web hosts https://kalechips.net/stuff/hosting, but personally I am very happy and satisfied on leprd.space! all the options are free, but I'm unsure how many slots they have left rn

leprd.space has renewed it's torrent plan so i signed up and uhhh they didn't respond
signed up for netlify. instantly suspended for suspicious activity. now they want me to either give them my government id and let them hold onto it, or contact support. so i contacted support

what static hosting do you recommend besides neocities?

looking into alternatives, and neocities supporter seems like the best deal? github and glitch has 1gb or less. netify, vercel, and cloudflare start at $20/mo. so i think i might just go with supporter?

I use Nearly Free Speech myself, and that's been about $1.50 a month for my site's ~250MB (scales with resource use). Definitely requires good knowledge of SSH/rsync/other remote file management software though; no GUI file dashboard.

Have't noticed any slowness issues. They actually just upgraded servers and distributed them more to reduce any issues there, too.

going to the dark side and will probably start to use github pages with github pro. ive considered neocities supporter, but i dont wanna pay a monthy subscription for weird edge cases like the download button disappearing or files starting with a dot disappearing. a lot of disappearing i dont like it

never used github but I (personally) think most people should probably just move their site host rather than be a supporter on nc if they're looking for more benefits.

tried looking into glitch and they tempoarily disabled the feature since march of this year...well there goes the two hosts i knew off the top of my head. time to do so digging or just give up

i kinda miss twitter. while i mostly lurked, i liked the people i followed. i actually felt energized and inspired after using it. but then elon came along and threw the whole vibe off. like yeah theres neocities etc, but it feels too energetic for my liking. hell, i even have websites muted by default to entirely prevent autoplay.
