working adults of neocities - when do you work on your website? i've been trying to chip away at updates after work hours but i feel so drained from the day that i don't make all that much progress... curious to hear how y'all balance this stuff
@kirbeedia not full-time, 40-hours, permanently employed at the moment if it isnt obvious enough. even so. i have been neglecting so many aspects of my life just to work on my site :| not great
i’m not sure yet until i find a job again… but when i was still working (before i made my website) anything that was for myself was usually in the night when i was in bed. just an hour or two before i slept was dedicated to mentally unexisting and sometimes that was working on hobbies like toyhouse coding (which by extension would’ve been my website) … while it was fully remote it probably would’ve been during work
well... like once a month to be completely honest (crying)... when i do get the time, it's a matter of if that's what i actually want to do in my free time. it's kinda hard to work on my site lately :(
i actually work on my site/personal projects while on the clock just to reclaim my time. i video edit full time so i'm definitely staring at my screen constantly, but i usually nap after work to rest my eyes and then reserve a few hours at midnight to code. i code my site all weekend when i come up with updates though cause i've lost all control
i mostly code whenever i'm haunted by the idea of having a well functioning site. it mostly comes and goes in waves for me, some times there will be weeks where i update very frequently and others where I do not.
my answer is the unhelpful one of I work on my website while at work.... my office job is slow enough in Fall/Winter and unmonitored enough that I can fit in a decent amount of time for regular content updates and such while on the clock lol. for bigger coding updates I usually set aside a few hours on a Saturday and lock in at a coffee shop or the library for like 4 hours straight. it's tough sometimes tho!
i can't even lie... when i was working, i disappeared from neocities LOLLL granted i think there were other factors that went into that... but there's nothing wrong with chipping away at updates though :}
would especially love to hear from anyone who sits at their computer all day for their day job :,) my eyes are burning
I just make one tiny edit and disappear into the face of this earth but I usually make music so yes, I am indeed at my computer

I focused on getting pages to work how I want them too and then over time adjust them slightly

after work too, but it is hard to choose between it and other non-work projets! I try to think little progress is better than none!
