Are you sure you want to do this?
Ok ok ok, where should I start? Do you have it installed already, or do you need it set up for Neocities?
Actually let me just start with Neocities set up! I can also give some plugins that I personally use for VSCode that help me just a bit.
First things first, if you don't have a github account, you'll need to make one. That should be the only part you need to have github.com open for. After that, you'll just need to sign into your github account on VSCode itself.
that'd be great tysm!! sorry if i reply a bit late i dont get notifications for replies and i'm not sure how to change that π
Unfortunately, there's not a way to get reply notifications yet! It's super irritating but hopefully it's on the way in a future update!
Once you have that set up, you'll need to get a few extensions/plugins (from the extension tab on the left... 4 squares): Github Actions, Github Repositories, HTML/CSS Support, and Live Preview.
i linked the 2 tutorials that i used at the bottom of my sitemap and outlines page! i can't get the links right now because i'm at work, but they were very helpful guides
(And let me know if you have any questions... I did this a long time ago and I may have forgotten some things)
okie dokie i'll try this out! thank you both!!
Thank you for the links btw Sunfish! If you need another reference, here are the links. These tutorials are good too: https://scumsuck.com/resources/deployneocities/ and https://petrapixel.neocities.org/blog/neocities-automatic-deployment
And frankly, those tutorials will be significantly better than what I'm cooking, but I do have a few extension recommendations that I use all the time:
First is Colorful Comments: It allows you to have comments of multiple different colors! https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=ParthR2031.colorful-comments
The second is Font Preview: I use it to check for stylistic sets for fonts as well as seeing how a font looks at different sizes. Link: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=ctcuff.font-preview
And the last one is Lorem Ipsum: I use it to check for overflow issues. https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Tyriar.lorem-ipsum
I use VScode and didnβt know about a lot of this, my git acc has cobwebs lol this thread is v helpful!
Glad we could be of help!
