sometimes i use neocities, but sometimes i'll use visual studio code and use the live server plugin to preview in my browser before i post. just make sure the folders and links are the same as theyll be on your website so you can actually see the images/assets youre using
i use VS code, because sometimes neocities takes a while to load css files! i have a copy of my html files and folders in my computer with the same name as the ones in the neocities server. after i'm done i just copy the code and paste it into the file in here.

You're supposed to code somewhere else, but because everything I do is so disorganized (and I'm lazy) I find it easier to just do it all here. I'd say that most users' update counts are inflated because people tend to do it directly through the editor.
