Hi all! I did not plan on making any updates tonight, but I had a shower thought for one of my reviews and had to get it written down before it disappears forever. I went ahead and moved August to the blarchive while I was at it.

I have two reviews/reflections coming soon: 1) An overview of my Linux experience. Not a starter guide or anything, but a walk along the meandering path that I've taken along the way, and 2) A review of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the game that I have logged the most hours on by far these last few years. I have like, 900 flight hours (!!!) so I think I am able to tell a bit about that experience.

My impression is that a *lot* of people on here are having a similar experience on that front. A lot of us are also too young to have meaningfully engaged with the pre-Social Media internet, so it's fun to see the indie web bringing back some of that old whimsy!

Wow, I checked out your spotify. Your voice is stunning and the composition is really pleasant. It's got "summer rom-com background music" energy in a good way :) Your sound kinda reminds me of Gold Motel. Thanks for the follow!

omgg so sweet thank u!!

Work's been kicking my butt. I've not had the creative energy to do much with the site lately. I'm taking a vacation soon, so hopefully that'll be a nice reset and I'll be more active here soon. I wanna set up an "html sandbox" section of my site, where i can mess around and learn how to build stuff from scratch, while using the template pages to continue using the site for yapping.

Your blog post about cheap computing is too real. I've gotten the "cheap laptops on ebay" bug lately too :p

right on :D they're so fun to watch, not to mention the nostalgia factor. I've been thinking about an old panasonic toughbook recently too. you have any specific ones in mind?

The thing I am trying to maximize right now is a 2011-era 11 inch Acer Aspire with a first gen low-power i3, with upgraded RAM and an SSD. It's still dog slow when it comes to installing stuff, but it handles indieweb stuff just fine! I'm writing this reply on it :p

The next thing I'd like to get my hands on is a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e. Basically the same idea as this Acer, but with better hardware. Finding something ~11 inches with a real hard drive instead of an old eMMC is tough.

ooo I like the sound of that Thinkpad Yoga. But even that little slow Acer Aspire, for some reason, it's just really fun to browse the indie web on those lower power machines. I managed to get Linux running on a C720 Chromebook with 2 gigs of ram and it can basically handle 2 or 3 tabs on Firefox and that's about it XD Silly fun to browse with though
