I think the problem with Neocities is that so many of y'all see it as a "safe space" or an alternative to social media. first, the Internet is not a place, it is a decentralized information protocol. there are no safe spaces. you are chronically online if you believe there are. and second, if a website relies on a community socially interacting in order to create media, it is social media.
it is impossible for a large community of people - especially on the Internet - to NOT develop into some form of faction-ificated version of itself. on top of that, it is impossible for a community of two people to avoid conflict, so what makes you think any differently about a community of HUNDREDS? you are dumb if you believe this is not true.
In the '90s, we all created discrete sites and asked each other what's it's like to be such a fag on BBS, USENET, message boards, etc. Guys like Drake have just merged these services to enhance commodity and efficiency.
