i feel like trying to explain that a large, like very large portion of 'gen z' (read: people born between 1995 and 2007) are not on social media, but are on niche discord servers, random web spaces (like this!) and maybe a tumblr for their poems, falls on deaf ears a lot of the time.
In my experience, Gen Z is mostly on YouTube and TikTok, two of the most active social media platforms. The majority are not very tech-savvy or comfortable with non-mobile-friendly spaces... wasn’t it Gen Z that turned youtubers/streamers/"content creators" into celebrities? My nephews and young cousins know tons of youtubers/internet celebrities, and they get together with friends to watch streamers on their phones
and they don't know the first thing about PCs :P (I believe that if a large portion of a whole generation was on niche web spaces, they wouldn't be so niche...)
