So interesting to hear your thoughts on fashion! I think that red is a versatile color. Well, really I think all colors are versatile. You mentioned believing that red was a "grown up color" until recently, which I found interesting. I've always seen it as a more playful, maybe even cute color, like pink. I think I'd consider "grown up clothes" to have particular silhouettes rather than specific colors if anything.

I also like your idea of neutrals & how your neutrals could be leopard print. i'm the same way. I'd say just about anything goes as a neutral for me except for white of all things. I own almost no white clothes, let alone plain white ones. Ir's good to liberate yourself from fashion rules like neutral or not. I'd say that my "neutrals" are probably jewel tones or prints.

@vashti that's really interesting indeed! i think maybe it has to do with how you saw / others implied the colours represented (for example painting your nails red was something i could not do, and even my mom never did because it was seen as a bit scandalous!) but yes, now i do agree that silhouettes have much more of an impact in that way than colours.

Oh, I can definitely see how color symbolism can impact our fashion choices. Red is often seen as a scandalous, sexual, seductive color, the color of passion. I've never personally seen it that way however. You know, this talk about wearing reds & whites reminded me of something: The poet Emily Dickinson was known for wearing white & I believe she saw white as a color of passion & described red as one of flame's

weaker hues or tints or something along those lines. It's been a while since I've read any Dicknson, so I'm not quite sure. I think that one of her only survivig articles of clothing was actually a white gown of hers! I like the idea of having our own library of color meanings, personal to us. For me, I'd say that purple is probably my more bold, passionate color.

@vashti oh i love that, i'll def look it up this about Dickinson! i never thought about my own library of colours, that is such an interesting concept. i think mine would be a lot of subdue, light shades. maybe my boldess comes only with prints and patterns! (gingham and leopard haha)
