im not anti social media and i enjoy the social media aspect of neocities generally, but sometimes i feel like it discourages me from actually interacting with people's homepages...
like i have this backdoor where i can come tell you things directly, comment on specific pages when you update them, so i rarely visit your index or have any need to find your guestbook/email
it's kind of like sharing a studio space with you: i can come up and see what you're working on and we can talk about it, but it also means i rarely experience your website as its meant to be. im not in the audience cause ive already been backstage
I totally agree with the benefits of the Neocites messaging system, but I wouldn't know/haven't found a solution that would be as nice to use and could be put on a website. Also I see that open sign ;)

this isn't a bad thing, but it just means my sense of community remains bound to neocities as a platform
