Steins;Gate was similarly a strong influence on me. Without it, the website before capstasher's Corner wouldn't have existed, and as a result neither would csC
@angeleyesprings no problem, love your site! (although I'd linked to you a long time ago, haha!)
The actual displaying of the dates is spread thin across my nightmare spaghetti of internationalisation code, so that’s a bring-your-own-beer affair for now! `signedDate` is positive for waxing, negative for waning, and 0 for the hene kai nea, month numbers are 0-indexed from Hecatombæon up, and years and olympiads are 1-indexed.
Living in the UK i have the luxury of always being pretty close to UTC so also this might break terribly if your time zone is far away from either Greenwich or Greece and will *definitely* break horribly if you are in the southern hemisphere.
This is awesome! It's one of those things that make programming worth it. I'll figure it out and maybe port it to C so I can have a nice companion for my planetary hours program. Thank you, divine Xanthe!
Oh, and don't worry about it breaking. Living in the southern hemisphere, I'm used to this kind of stuff breaking... but the indomitable human spirit always prevails.
Have fun with the moon calculations then! Last time i tried calculating astronomical positions myself (read: last week) i came to the conclusion that i should turn off the computer, give up, and back away slowly, lol
@capstasher Script to convert standard Gregorian dates into the Attic calendar, the moon-phase-based festival calendar used in ancient Athens
Ahhh, no — i delisted it because updating it for the new year was a chore and I'd finally automated it behind the scenes anyway. It miiiiiight still be at /calendrical but idk if i even ported it over during the shift to self hosting.
I'd love to know how you automate it! I'm really interested in learning how to reliably get the current date.
I *have* been meaning to properly open-source my site for a while… may finally get around to it now you’ve asked!
"Feels really free" is the greatest compliment i think my site could ever be given. Cheers for the link! :-)
@satyrwoud I actually linked to you a long while ago, but I'm glad you liked my cop-out description. I really do feel it, though.
I am fashionably late as always. ;) If it’s any consolation the description for my site is *always* either a cop-out or “well that’s not what *i* would call it”, LOL
The Organisation, SERN, has finally showed itself! This is our time to strike, Cidoku!
This is my favorite tutorial on sewing custom plushies --> https://www.deviantart.com/diffeomorphism/art/So-you-want-to-make-plushies-A-beginner-s-guide-423683194 , it might get tedious handsewing them tho! Maybe you would like crosstitching or embroidery as well?
@angeleyesprings Thank you for the link, Amy! As for crosstitching and embroidery, I think that if I do start making dolls, maybe I'll eventually need those skills for the clothing as well... wish me luck
