its hard to say that for the most part memes arent funny because people will think youre butthurt or whatever, but so many of them are just "somewhat amusing screenshot of a social media post with a completely unnecessary reaction image at the bottom"

even worse are "surreal memes" or the okbuddyretard memes which have been so taken over by horribly uncreative and unfunny people that they arent even really that different anymore

memes were less cringe 15 years ago than they are now
