how do you guys handle accessibility for images that require longer descriptors? iβve just been shoving them in my alt texts regardless of length but i donβt *actually* know if screen readers can read past 125 characters or if itβs misinfo?? is it just better to incorporate image descriptions?
Tumblr allows up to 4k characters for image description, so I'm hoping that's misinfo. :o 125 characters sounds like old-school Xitter's tweet limitations. Since a lot of sites allow larger image descriptions, I'm assuming they read them properly.
125 is just the ideal length, i'm pretty sure it would still read everything past that. a lot of people recommend brief alt text alongside image descriptions because it helps both blind and low vision users
