The final Rogue Squadron, a 'pile of wank' and the legal drama that lead to the death of Factor 5.

Come for the retrospectives, stay for the poor corporate decision-making

Nice site, and I desperately agree and wish that New Horizons had all the stuff from Pocket Camp!

Thanks a lot! And yeah, I'm still playing Pocket Camp, getting cool new furniture every month. I hope they add better interactions with items in future main games, although I'm not sure if I'll be getting the Switch 2 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Had to get Shads out of the way before tackling Rogue Squadron 3. I cannot believe Factor 5 went that direction. Also included a couple of hidden em-dashes in honor of Skep.

I too played 10 minutes of RS3 back in the day and went "nah"

Is this the most underrated gaming site on Neocities? Absolutely yes. Your retrospectives are top-notch.

Thank you Skep this actually made my day! I have been trying to read Neocities instead of news or social media and Skep's Place is one of those I check back regularly for, and I'm not just saying that! In fact I may make a page of my regular bookmarks, will help me to get off The Bad Stuff.

Muppets RaceMania retrospective is up. Enjoyed it much more than I thought, and despite the main racing mode.

Enjoyed your writeup, I have played Bubble Bobble as much as the next person but never realised it was that deep, or that it had a ridiculous story.

In my opinion it's the gold standard for arcade game design; super easy to understand and pick up and play, with the replay value being not just because of difficulty, but also because of the underlying depth and complexity and secrets to uncover which can result in even replaying early levels being a different experience now that you can utilise those hidden mechanics. It's why i'm very fond of shoot-em-ups too!

P.S. the story gets even goofier with revelations introduced in Rainbow Islands

Easy to play, hard to master! Insane to me that Bubble Bobble was hiding such complexity all these years (from me, at least!)
