I wasn't a Sega child, so I found this analysis very interesting (even though I don't know many of the games you mention and I don't like how they made Mario a blue hedgehog). Maybe SoA had that 90s movie mindset like everyone, even Disney, of 'we had a blockbuster hit, lets just milk it to shit instead of making an equally high quality sequel'!
