i feel like more often than not the average person takes the cutesy aesthetic of my site and equates it with frivolousness of some kind, or the content to be lacking in seriousness in some way. might be reading a bit much into this and every page is obviously a heavy wip still (very early to be open to judgement in the first place) but its definitely food for thought!

it's kinda confusing how people associate cutesy with non-serious stuff and dark, spooky with serious... can people not have diff aesthetics and talk abt the same stuff in the same context? anyways the site looks absolutely fire so far :3c

@catboo Yeah this is exactly what i mean! not just dark, spooky per se but extreme minimalism and text-heavy pages too. biases like this can be obvious given the context of the society we're in but i wish people would look beyond something's face value and engage with things with a clear head especially in situations that involve artistry or self-expression. BTW thank you! currently dying trying to make it responsive

this and ur reply to catboo r both VERY real i totally get what your saying esp w the minimilistic like "mysterious" serious sites. i get jealous sometimes that i feel i cant talk or act like that on my site but im trying to break that barrier in myself anywa.

@burgeritchi You are soooo real for this omg 😭 this has happened to me on several occasions (found someone with a page with literature-centric content or beautiful prose that i really liked and would've dissected with them if they became my mutual) and although a trivial thing, i've often felt ashamed in my need to immediately strip down on my aesthetic and put My writing on the forefront just so they'd take me +

seriously and consider me worthy for genuine connection. but what i've told myself in these situations is that my site is for my own happiness only and not primarily a medium of subtle communication with others, and although internalizing this will take time i think telling yourself this time and again is key

personally (from an objective standpoint) i feel like the way your site looks didn't affect my perception of your content!! it's all about how you verbalize your thoughts... people who make a first judgement based off the look of your site probably weren't worth your time anyway lol. hang in there!!
