ive been wanting to get more into japanese idol culture... does anyone know where i can find a general introduction to it. atm im listening to arcana project songs, but i kind of want an introduction to the idol culture + etiquette. the extent of my knowledge is that graduations are a thing.

thank you so much! theres actually a surprising amount that overlaps with vtuber culture (i'm guessing because of hololive). any recommendations would be really cool too, since i have no idea where to start!!
there is! and yeah, hololive is definitely a factor XD let's see...some of my personal favorite groups are The World Standard/Wasuta, Misola de Edison, Sakurazaka46, and Cho Tokimeki Sendenbu! If you want something a bit unorthodox, I rec Zenbu Kimi no Sei da. (they actually do a bit of metal vocals), BABYMETAL, or ATARASHII GAKKO! :>
Vtubers also get a weird rap but I genuinely recommend some of their singers as well, such as Hoshimachi Suisei :>
