By "more detail" I mean it doesn't just go "well they recorded a couple of albums then stopped touring because the lead singer had a breakdown, then they didn't do much after that really"
XTC was a very good band, I think that in that time there were very interesting things besides Joy Division, one of them that I recently discovered is Magazine, ( from ex Buzzcock's singer) their album "Simple Life" (1978!) is just great. Recommended.
Sorry for the late response, but thanks for the recommendation. Also I agree that that time was a really interesting time for music. Sex Pistols and all that doesn't really interest me at all, but bands like XTC, Buzzcocks, The Jam, Wire, early industrial and early synth stuff was all going on at once
