should the guilt all be on the consumer who has gotten a thing designed appealing the most accessible way (because buying used is frown upon, hard, and complicated, and rare) or on the giant corporations who do not care about sustainability of their products or how much they undersell them? its very easy for individuals to think theyre at fault, but theres only so much damage 1 individual can do!

"You think people make choices? No, people think they make choices, they think they're gonna steer right, or steer left, but they didn't build the roads. The big choices already got made for them, a long time ago."

it doesnt mean "ok, the world is at fault, i cant do anything so imma buy bunch of stuff ill throw out later just for fun" - its good to stay mindful and encourage your fellow humans to be the same, but please know you cannot put all the blame on yourself. consumerism, even one inside your head, wouldnt exist the way it does if our natural habits weren't exploited this badly for money making purposes

wholeheartedly agree with the perspective offered by aurum! it's good to stay mindful, but at the end of the day there is only so much responsibility an individual can (and should) put upon themselves

yah, this "blue haired barista with pronouns" joke making its rounds on the internet again, used as a scapegoat in so many ways. :/ good read. better to perceive queerness as a rejection of the status quo, than pandering the concept of queerness to the status quo...

"The T is the current scapegoat" until removed, then it will be the B, then the G, then the L... hard to see people not recognising dangerous societal patterns. Great entry, thank you

this entry resonated deeply w me, especially because many places in southeast asia still are very much small towns and those who are "other" are pushed out of the ingroups. very happy to hear that it's still home for you, like mine is for me <3
