>kaa Well, I can use mpv with vo=sdl and pdftohtml works very well. I can't use unicode, but I can endure because what I can't view is only texts. For a multimedia, I can just check the content. So I'll still use OpenBSD anyway.

>thricegreat I understand. Limitation to only a TTY would be nicer to live with on Linux than BSD. If you have the confidence and desire, porting programs to work with the OpenBSD framebuffer may be a possible solution. Best of luck.

https://www.reddit.com/r/openbsd/comments/k7fcm6/graphics_in_the_console/ Reddit's outlook on an attempt to port framebuffer graphics applications to OpenBSD is less than optimistic.

>kaa I have tried those, but those require /dev/fb0 (framebuffer). OpenBSD doesn't use it. Thank you for the suggestions anyway.

( > https://thricegreat.neocities.org/use_tty.txt ) Should you still be committed to using a TTY only, I personally recommend Ali Rudi's fbpdf, and you may also find use in fbpad, a TTY terminal emulator with TrueType font support. See http://litcave.rudi.ir/ for sources.

Further: You're not to get unicode in a usual TTY. It's not an OpenBSD thing, it's a TTY terminal emulator and bitmap font thing. See https://askubuntu.com/a/23614 for some discussion of the issue.

>teethinvitro I wish I had Richard Stallman tier autism and will power :) He even doesn't use a dumb phone lol.
>teethinvitro It's totally fine. I also haven't permanently switched to it since the system forces me to use graphical sessions.

Ah I love the TTY. Fun to use, but unfortunately what stops me from permanently switching to it is my reliance on some software that require graphical sessions. Not a huge issue, though. I do use the commandline nearly constantly because of its convenience.

Hm, I could technically only run graphical sessions when I need those things and quit when I'm done.
