I don't know if this strategy would help but for example, to help me monitor / stay on top of music purchases I have a "music budget" that is equivalent to a Spotify subscription which I just spend on buying albums/mp3s from one of my wish lists once a month or every two months (if I bought a big album like an FFXIV soundtrack). I'm not sure if that method would work for your hobbies but it's an idea.
