aesthetic update of gw is going well. learning many crazy things like @keyframes animations and the power of #idname.classname{} in my css files

are those really so difficult? no. did it still take me forever to learn how to implement them? yes of course.

thank you thank you! i love all your dot art

the little 'updated' thing didn't come up for me to comment on, but (sharing for my own sake of appreciating a log) new (small) writing update on hobby page and new blog, and i'm dabbling in flexboxes on the homepage now (will gw be mobile-friendly/responsive one day? probably not but stay tuned)

also i put my url into that website carbon calculator and it got a D score :( which is 0.56g of CO2 produced every time someone visits gw what the hell. mad upsetting as an envi sci student. but as a bad/new coder not sure what to do about it. the website only linked to a £17 book on sustainable web dev and a directory of 'green web hosting services'. more research required on my end it seems.

but mildly funny now that if you google girl-wonderlost.neocities (because this site stores the info whoops should've read disclaimer) one of the first hits is a link to that site and part of the preview says 'This [my site] is dirtier than 56 % of all web pages'

cleaning up stuff. just discovered < a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> to force open link in new tab, good for my iframes (even though i read iframes are 'bad practice' somewhere. whatever.) #htmlqueen. turns out that noopener thing is to avoid tabnabbing. what a world we live in.

I read somewhere that modern web browsers treat all 'target=_blank' links as having an implicit 'ref=noopener'. So you don't need to add it unless you are looking out for people who haven't updated their browser in about 7+ years.

plus new old song featured on about page (reminded about this one by ancientcrypt. tech 's album page)

hello (she says into the abyss)... i don't even know how to google this question but if someone wants to point me in the right direction that would be great lol. on my altar.html page i have a element that's an overlay to make a sort of candle lighting effect...only issue w/ this is that now everything is "under" the overlay so i don't know how to make the images clickable...

obviously i could put the images on top of the overlay, but then they won't have the orange cast on on them yk. was thinking that i could make coordinates of the overlay clickable that correspond with the images underneath, but would they stay consistent to the location of images if the page is resized/on different sized monitors??

girl-wonderlost 2 months ago

i also don't even know what i've gonna have displayed on click so maybe that's step one here :/ anyways if this made sense to anyone and you have html tips for a poor girl who can't code well lmk

irony-machine 2 months ago

you can use pointer-events:none on the overlay elements
