one thing about me is that I do not care about the difference between the American and British English versions of words I will just use whatever feels right at that given second. I just roll the dice on it. flip a coin. throw a dart with a paper on it with the letter U on it and if it lands I spell it color. this also applies in real life when I pronounce words
