Was thinking about how things might be if Adam were the one who ate the fruit and Eve who sinned. Was thinking abt it cause I was thinking about how women have been treated throughout history (and how horrible it's been, even in Christian populations, but downright terrifying in unChristian ones) and how I feel like God accounted for it by making us the way we are.
Sometimes men complain about women trying to usurp their place or trying to be as men, but I think that desire comes from the fact that Eve was cursed. It wasn't supposed to be this way initially. Part of the curse was "your desire shall be for your husband." I'm not saying that a good Christian marriage is bad or anything, not at all and I am very looking forward to being married, but marriage is inherently
*But* (and this isn't possible because sin passes through the man, but) what would have happened if the man ate the fruit and Eve was the one who sinned after? I think the power balance would have been worse because men's brand of foolishness is ... Idk how to say this. Too simple?
People sometimes complain about women being chaotic or complicated in nature and my opinion is that (well, also, it is how God made us, so maybe don't complain?) at LEAST we have that. Men are physically stronger and have used such a strength against us but women are naturally more cunning and we have used that to our advantage. Wisdom is a woman in the Bible.
How much more insidious and hateful would a world be if men had their wills towards their wives, even if they were abused in some way, and women used their brand of violence (psychological) against the entire other half of the population?
I'm just having some Ponders but am not confidant enough in this thought experiment to publish a blog post about it, so into the void of neocity comments it goes. Also, meant to say "worldy and therefore fallen in nature"*
Also, should have said "maybe don't complain so much" instead of don't complain at all, or maybe don't think of it as a bad trait. I complain about men being too simple or thoughtless sometimes, so I can't fault anyone for complaining about the other lol
Proverbs 31. 16 She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. 17 She zdresses herself5 with strength and makes her arms strong. 18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night.
24 She makes hlinen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. 25 iStrength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
Christ is The Second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-49). Through him, the curses upon the serpent, Eve, and Adam are already redeemed. For example, a man who tries to rule over his wife isn't following Christ (Ephesians 5:25-31). As in each, should it be reflected in the whole because the church is The Bride of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2).
Only when they are of one flesh will they be able to enter The Marriage Supper of The Lamb. (Matthew 22:2-14; Isaiah 61:10; Revelation 19:7-9). But many people's hearts are hard, so they still do not know the truth of marriage. May their hearts be softened, in the name of Jesus The Christ, Amen.
Regarding the hypothetical of Adam eating the fruit first, I think things would have gone about the same, since Adam was the one given the instruction to not of the Tree, and Adam's and Eve's eyes were open _after_ Adam ate of the fruit
I'm not sure if the curses would have been different in that scenario, since they do correspond to the roles that men and women are supposed to take in marriage
@Cutsman Well it's just the wording of "your will shall be for your husband" that makes me think marriage would have looked different before the fall. Not to mention pain in childbirth and just the fact that things have been rough for women ever since the beginning of history basically.
Also, LetsLearnTogether! I didn't know you were a Christian! I don't know if you will read this but thank you dearly for the pennypinching recipe blogs and such - that is a supremely helpful resource for me right now, thank you. I looked at your page because you replied to this. ^^;
Bit late Quills. To answer, heard it said that if Adam never ate the fruit he would have been able to restore his wife Eve to the grace of God. He would have interceded on her behalf for her good. Unfortunately, Eve was deceived. Adam was NOT, and he ate willingly, using his wife as an excuse, when God confronted him about it.

Women have started using their brand of violence (psychological) against men in much bigger numbers these days
Sooooooooo, is this an issue of power dynamics between men & women?

Also Amen for that Ephesians quote 🙏
