I have ordered shoes online once. The trick was knowing what size your foot is, then ordering shoes around that size, and then fit them at home, select the pair you want to keep, and send the rest back. it's not a great experience. I prefer going to the store. However, now that I know which type of shoe it is and what size it is, I can order the exact same type of shoe again with the same size and it'll likely fit.
I never thought about buying many different sizes and then sending back the ones that don't fit. If returning is free, I guess it's one way to handle things.
