I love Rhea and Feena so much it's unreal. (Also love how Rhea was called "Lair" in American Ys Book I & II -- one of those endearing localization quirks)....

So much more to say about Ys V... I didn't mind it being too easy but the problem is that there's an alchemy system with like... Over a dozen spells. And they are completely useless, because no enemy is so difficult that you can't just use your sword. And you can't even use them at all against some bosses. Plus you need to rapidly tap R to concentrate--more trouble than it's worth. I'm serious: entire system, useless

I remember beating Terranigma without casting a single spell.

Terranigma's on my list! ... I think there's two other similar games I'm supposed to play first though

Yup, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. They're all VERY different, despite all three belonging to the same genre and "series." I guess I'd compare them to Dungeon Explorer, Zelda, and Secret of Mana, respectively.

Doctor S-G is from my KH fanfic that I can never fully share. Great character, very deep and nuanced. More depth than his name perhaps suggests.

1-4 on PCE (TurboGrafx) CD is my favorite cluster of Ys games.

Not familiar with this Anbernic stuff...... These are emulation machines shaped like actual retro (and modern) handhelds??

They are Chinese handhelds designed to look like Gameboys but they run Linux or Android and you can play a bunch of other consoles. Most of the lower end consoles from Anbernic can play up to PS1 or Dreamcast if you really push it.

I wouldn't be suprised if the next GOTY awards puts me in a coma. One already put me to sleep.

Thanks Mr. Wizard. Had never heard of those but I've been doing more emulation in an effort to preserve my actual hardware. I've got a Retroid Pocket.

I printed some gaskets for my anbernic sp. You can try taping the mebranes on the . That's what most people do with theirs. I think I am about to have a year for mine.

My hands don't really cramp (cuz they are smol) but the buttons are very clicky and loud even with the tpu gaskets I made for the dpad and buttons.

I think they were trying to be clicky like the orignal GBA SP. I have my old one but it's nowhere near as clicky as the Anbernic.

Funny enough, I get really bad hand cramps with the Switch Lite. I printed a grip to make it feel more like a control and helps quite a bit. Here's one the sp: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6732991 You can probably find them on Etsy if you don't have a printer.

Boomers are so weird man. Dr. Phil's prevailing religion is "Civil Rights" -- something the administrative state forced upon him (and everyone) at gunpoint when he was 15 or so. A thoroughly cooked population.

Funny you mentioned that. I almost lost my data on my desktop yesterday becaues Linux Mint had a corrupt filesystem upon my boot but I was able to fix it using fsck -f /some file directories that were corrupted/. Desktop is working again and I immediately started backing up my important files. No issues since.
